Microsoft: August Windows updates cause severe streaming issues
What’s new: Microsoft has confirmed that the August 2025 security updates (KB5063878 for Windows 11 24H2 and KB5063709 for Windows 10 21H2/22H2) are causing severe lag and stuttering issues with NDI streaming software on some Windows systems. Users have reported performance problems with various streaming applications, including OBS, particularly when ‘Display Capture’ is enabled. The issue affects NDI traffic, specifically with RUDP connections, while UDP or Single-TCP remains unaffected.
Who’s affected
Windows 10 (21H2/22H2) and Windows 11 (24H2) users who installed the August 2025 security updates are experiencing these streaming issues.
What to do
- Change the NDI Receive Mode to use TCP or UDP instead of RUDP by following these steps:
- Download and install the free NDI Tools pack.
- Launch the NDI Access Manager app.
- Go to the Advanced tab and change Receive Mode to Single TCP or UDP, then press OK.
- Repeat on any other affected computers.
